Exploring Black Hills & Custer, SD

Guy had to get some work done today so the kids and I went out exploring on our own. It was an eventful day with the wildlife! We started the day at Bear Country USA. (This is like Lion Country back home. The animals roam free while you drive through. At the end you can walk through and see some babies.)

We saw some elk, big horn sheep, reindeer, buffalo, artic wolves, timberwolves, and my favorite black bear & cubs. There were others but these were the highlight.

After Bear Country we went to black light putt putt. I WON!!! The art work was really cool and fun.

We grabbed some lunch and headed to Custer State Park. On the way there, on some back roads, we were stopped for a huge herd of buffalo as they decided to cross the road. These animals amaze me every time I see them. They are so massive in size. I tried to get some pictures as I was driving by them. Some of them were walking along and would just fall to the ground and roll on their backs (pretty funny to see).

Once we got inside of Custer State Park we decided to take the wildlife loop. We drove about 25 minutes and didn’t see anything so we decided to turn around and go back to the campground. On the way back AGAIN a different herd of buffalo decided to cross the road. I relied on Eli to get some pictures and videos for me and he said he got some but all he had for me was one picture 🙄 typical! He had them RIGHT next to his window!!!!!! 🤷🏼‍♀️

Guy was so jealous he missed today.

We came back for a nap and headed out to Mt. Rushmore before we leave tomorrow. We had already drove by and seen it but I need a GOOD picture for my scrapbook 😊
