On April 25, 2020 I said to my husband "lets buy a RV and go on a cross country trip this summer." I thought he would think I was crazy but he surprised me when he said okay. I didn't know if he was serious or calling my bluff, lol. We both loved the idea so I started searching for the RV and on May 6th we purchased a RV from the auction and it was delivered to us on May 11th. It is a 2014 Thor Ace 30.1, has 12,000 miles and is in great shape (clean). We have named her "Ole Betsey." We sent her in for a tune-up and check-up.

In the meantime I joined 4 RV groups on facebook to learn all I could before leaving: RV Parks & Campground Reviews, RV Tips, Camping & RV Fun Ideas and my FAVORITE one is How to RV for Newbies (the people are so friendly and really have good advice). When my husband and I discussed this trip we just said we wanted it to be spontaneous, no definite plans and no timestamps on places to be. We really want to just get out there and see where the roads take us. If we are driving and pass something that looks fun we want to be able to stop and not be in a hurry to the next destination. With this being said we do need some kind of flexible itinerary. I sat down and created this amazing cross country trip from West Palm Beach, FL with some amazing places to visit (I didn't just sit down and create this, it did take a lot of work :) I was so excited to show my husband and he informed me that my trip would take us about a year to do :( With my husband able to work remotely and the kids having the ability to do online learning I'm not in a hurry. Anyway, I went and started crossing places off my list and narrowing down our stops. Due to the Covid-19 a lot of places are closed and if they are open they have limited activities or even no activities at all. We do plan on social distancing and staying away from crowded places so I am constantly reminding myself of this when I get upset on what we will be missing and have to keep reminding myself that this is better than sitting home all summer. The things we will be able to see will be amazing and more than enough.

We originally set a departure date of June 8th but apparently everyone else has the same idea we had and the RV service departments are backed up so we had to keep moving the date further and further. Finally, we set the date for June 18th and I made our first 4 reservations. Everything was looking pretty up and down with our timing until June 15th everything just fell into place. When I sat down to look at our first couple stops I realized that a lot of places are fully booked and this may be harder than we think. People have been telling me that campsites book up to a year or more in advance and we would run into this problem. Our first stop is Westgate River Ranch RV Resort in Florida. My parents are going camping as well to our first location to teach my husband and I how to do everything since they have "been there done that."
