I was a little sad that we didn’t get in to some other campsites because I waited so long to make reservations. Not only I found a place to stay but in 5 days we were going to have to move our campsite 3 times!!! What a disaster but we don’t have many options so we took it. Also, you don’t get to book online and pick your spot. You have to send in a reservation request and they put you where they want.
Pulling in to Spruce Lake I was very happy. The view is gorgeous! We are at the bottom of the mountains with them all around us. They have pretty natural streams running through the campground, 2 stocked lakes and lots of fun wildlife.
The employees were SO NICE!!! After dealing with all these awful employees I was so happy to talk to friendly people. We checked in and went to our first site #4. This is a great site because you only have people on each side of you and they are facing the opposite way. The only issue was this was water/electric only and I had requested full hookups (I guess they didn’t have any available).
One thing I definitely took for granted early on in our trip was fire pits and swimming pools. The past two places we have been to wouldn’t allow fires on your site but they have a community one they light every night. Definitely not the same and really is a bummer to not have your own fire at night. Especially here because the weather is cooler at night. I guess because of the coronavirus the pool was closed but showers/laundry and playground was open.
When it was time to move our site they had told us they fixed it so we only had to move 1 time. I was so excited. We moved to site #62 and had full hookups 🥳 This site we had people all around us and no privacy at all. I don’t like being surround like that, I want my space and privacy. But we had a place to stay so I was grateful.
The laundry room and showers were VERY clean and comfortable. The laundry was expensive-$2.50 to wash and $2.00 to dry. The sites had gravel pads but they were level. Not all sites have full hookups. The employees were so nice and helpful (shoutout to Maureen). I think most of them are staying here for the season and working.
I would definitely recommend staying at Spruce Lake RV Resort. The location is amazing and right in the middle of Estes Park. It took us 5 minutes to get into Rocky Mountain National Park, 5 minutes to get to downtown Estes Park with shopping, restaurants, etc.
