Woke up this morning and made French toast for breakfast for the first time. I know how sad is that š¤¦š»āāļø but it was amazing and everyone loved it.
Then the mobile RV repair man showed up and fixed our hot water heater š„³ and he only charged us $85...win win!!!!
I spent most of the day trying to find a campsite near Yellowstone and Iām having no luck š Iāve called probably 8 places today. I will be so upset if I canāt find a place. We just might have to do our first āboondockingā experience š¬
This afternoon we had our whitewater rafting adventure. I have been so excited for this and itās been something Iāve wanted to do for so long. As we were driving there the clouds rolled in and the weather didnāt look good. It started raining and we checked in. While waiting in our car for the safety meeting we talked about moving it to tomorrow but then the sun started coming out and it stopped raining so we decided to go ahead with it today. We did not know what kind of adventures lied ahead for us. We got a very cool guide named āHoopsā. He told us all kinds of crazy information and facts about the area. So much going on around here, pretty cool!!!!
Our trip was 9 miles from start to finish. We maybe got in 2 1/2 miles and black clouds started rolling in very quickly. The wind picked up super strong and was going against us so at one point we werenāt even moving. Then we noticed over the mountains this cool āfogā ..... WELLLLLL lets just say it wasnāt fog. This is where the Amuials accidentally took the āexpertā course. (We didnāt really but things got serious real quick). The wind was blowing VERY strongly, it started thundering and lightning and then the rain came. The rain was so powerful and hitting us soooo hard it felt like hail. I have contacts so I couldnāt even open my eyes and he was screaming forward for us to paddle and it was absolutely FREEZING!!!! The tour guide at one point told us to rest and was doing what he could to row us all by himself. He was so exhausted, you could see it on his face, and he was so cold he couldnāt talk to us anymore because he was shivering that bad. š„¶ We didnāt realize how much further we had to go in these awful conditions and we were so uncomfortable. Something that was suppose to be an experience of a lifetime turned into a nightmare that wouldnāt end. The scenery was beautiful and we did go through the canyons but we missed out on over half of the trip. The road above us had a mud slide as we were going by and cars were honking and water was coming over the edge of the road and the lights were flashing. We were so cold my fingers were totally numb. I was very nervous. We did end up making it back safely and none of us suffered from hypothermia. When we finally got into the car and started to thaw out my fingers were being electrocuted. Seriously, it was painful!!! They did send us our photos and of course they took the pictures early on in the trip and didnāt capture the real memories of the trip š.
Itās like those people on Facebook posting all happy moments but really things arenāt that great....well thatās what our pictures look like. BUT, at least I got my pictures in š¤ Thank you Whitewater Rafting, LLC in Glenwood Springs.
Anyway, we got back to the RV and I was able to take a nice long HOT SHOWER! So exciting.
The Amuials havenāt been this adventurous ever and itās all turning into the EXTREME!!! Definitely canāt forget this stuff.
Tomorrow we are off to Glenwood Hot Springs Resort to enjoy the pool and at night we are going to Iron Mountain Hot Springs.
